Andy (lo scrittore) e Terry (l’illustratore) sono australiani vivono in una fantastica casa sull’albero in cui c’è tutto, ma proprio tutto: una pista da bowling, una vasca piena zeppa di squali, una stanza dei giochi, un disintegratore di verdure e addirittura una fontana da cui sgorga limonata… dimenticavo: c’è anche il bagno, ma Terry non lo sa!
La vita di Andy e Terry nella casa sull’albero è magnifica, ma non è solo la roro casa, è anche il luogo dove scrivono le storie, perché Andy e Terry sono due autori di libri per ragazzi.
Però la casa sull’albero offre troppe distrazioni e, come se non ce ne fossero abbastanza, Terry contribuisce a perdere tempo (tempo prezioso da dedicare a scrivere e illustrare libri) con le sue assurdità.
Assurdità che nella casa sull’albero sono assolutamente normali: come dipingere un gatto di giallo per farlo diventare un canarino, oppure ordinare delle scimmiette di mare e ritrovarsi con un mostro marino nella vasca da bagno!
Ce la faranno Andy e Terry a completare in tempo il libro da consegnare all’editore?
Nella seconda avventura invece la casa sull’albero è addirittura raddoppiata, i tredici piani sono diventati ventisei, ora c’è anche una pista per l’autoscontro, un’arena per la lotta nel fango e una camera antigravitazionale.
In questo secondo libro conosciamo un po’ meglio i due protagonisti, Andy e Terry: come si sono conosciuti e come hanno cominciato a costruire la casa sull’albero e a scrivere libri insieme.
Anche in quest’avventura (un po’ più lunga perché la casa è molto più grande) c’è un altro libro da finire in tempo e consegnare all’editore.
Divertenti, surreali, scanzonati, due libri super illustrati che si leggono come dei fumetti e dove ne capitano veramente di tutti i colori.
Ma perché una casa sull’albero? Perché la casa sull’albero ha sempre solleticato la fantasia dei bambini: un rifugio elevato da terra dove nascondersi e osservare il mondo intorno da un punto di vista differente. Andy e Terry non si limitano ad osservare però. vivono delle vere e proprie avventure che si dipanano dalla loro casa e spesso (anzi, sempre) sfiorano il surreale.
Attenzione: la prossima casa sull’albero sarà di trentanove piani (parola di Andy e Terry)!
La serie pubblicata in Italia da Salani continua, in Australia le avventure dei due amici hanno superato gli otto volumi (e in ogni volume la casa raddoppia i piani).
