Una bellissima trilogia scritta ancora una volta da Rick Riordan, l’autore di “Percy Jacson e gli dei dell’Olimpo”.
Questa volta i protagonisti sono i fratelli Carter e Sadie Kane, che raccontano alternandosi la vicenda, registrandola per un futuro uditore.
Carter e Sadie sono eredi di due grandi stirpi di faraoni e, a metà del primo libro scopriremo che sono anche gli ospiti mortali di due grandi dei egiziani: Horus e Iside.
Inutile dire che il mondo è in pericolo, minacciato prima dal dio Seth (il dio del caos) e poi dal serpente Apophis (capace di inghiottire il sole per creare un mondo di oscurità), oltre a schiere di dei e demoni che traggono profitto dal caos.
Carte e Sadie, loro malgrado dovranno controllare la magia dei loro ospiti e cercare lo scomparso dio del sole (Ra), per impedire che la razza umana venga cancellata per sempre.
Ad aiutarli un’insolita e nutrita schiera di amici maghi e dei che corrono contro il tempo insieme a loro: lo zio Amos, Bast (la dea gatto), Bes (il dio nano), Khufu (uno dei babbuini del dio Thot), Ziah (una potente maga della Casa della Vita) e… ovviamente Anubis!
