Una cellula si divide, qualcuno sta per nascere ma… chi sarà?
Ha le branchie è sicuramente un pesce.
Ha l’acqua nei polmoni, è certamente un anfibio.
Ha le zampe palmate, allora potrebbe essere un’anatra.
Però ha anche una coda, che sia una volpe?
No, è un essere umano.
Uno splendido libro che spiega con chiarezza L’ORIGINE DELLA SPECIE di Charles Darwin del 1859.
Darwin aveva capito che tutti gli esseri viventi sulla terra discendono da un unico essere vivente comparso milioni di anni fa che poi si è evoluto in tantissimi modi diversi, come un albero che dalla radice si ramifica in mille direzioni. Milioni di anni di evoluzione sono dentro le nostre cellule e, prima di nascere ogni bambino “ricorda” tutto il percorso che la vita ha compiuto prima di creare gli esseri umani.
Gli esseri umani infatti sono gli ultimi vertebrati comparsi sulla terra, prima su questo pianeta hanno trovato posto i pesci, gli anfibi, i rettili, gli uccelli e solo alla fine i mammiferi. Per questo quando la cellula si divide potrebbe diventare qualunque cosa perché è un po’ pesce, un po’ anfibio, un po’ rettile e un po’ uccello, prima di diventare essere umano, come un’unica cellula contenesse dentro di sé il ricordo di un lungo viaggio.
E’ tutto collegato, siamo tutti collegati.
L’intuizione di Charles Darwin, che alla fine del i800 era solo un’intuizione, è stata confutata più di un secolo dopo dalla scoperta del DNA. che ha attestato scientificamente tutti i gradi di parentela che l’uomo ha con tutte le specie del pianeta.
Del resto la natura non gioca a dadi…
Un libro fantastico, scritto da una biologa e arricchito dalle illustrazioni di una grande illustratrice per l’infanzia che spiega in maniera scientifica ma perfettamente comprensibile tutto il percorso evolutivo dalla cellula alla vita.
