Quattordici cavalieri più uno, usciti dalla fantasia decorativa di Gek Tessaro ci “spiegano” la guerra.
In questo libro una parola immensa come GUERRA viene analizzata in tutte le sue sfaccettature attraverso le parole di quattordici cavalieri pronti a combattere dentro le loro armature e in groppa a cavalli pomposamente bardati. Cavalieri coloratissimi, più adatti ad una sfilata che ad un campo di battaglia, cavalcano fieramente insieme alle loro convinzioni: c’è chi va in guerra in nome della pace, chi affronta la battaglia nel nome di Dio, chi si lancia nella mischia ascoltando il proprio cuore.
Nobili principi, grandi parole, ma non abbastanza quando sono accompagnati da rigidità, scempiaggine, nemico, castigo, pena, fastidio…
Insomma, la guerra non ha mai giustificazioni, nemmeno se sono travestite da nobili intenti, e questo ce lo spiega l’ultimo cavaliere che deve CAVALCARE VIA (cavalcavia), un gioco di parole che incita ad andare oltre, ad allontanarsi dalla follia di una logica che di logico non ha nulla.
Poi, alla fine, rimane solo l’impronta di alcuni zoccoli sulla pagina…
Un libro non facile ma molto, molto profondo che invita a ragionare sugli aspetti della guerra, su ciò che la rende qualcosa di giusto, logico, necessario e voluto da Dio.
Poche e brevissime frasi che sono solo gli accenni dei pensieri di un cavaliere quando si lancia nella battaglia. E una battaglia il libro la suggerisce davvero, perché i cavalieri sono pronti allo scontro e, se non fossero disegnati uno per pagina, li vedremo fronteggiarsi proprio davanti ai nostri occhi. Per fortuna l’espediente editoriale non gli permette di combattere!
Gek Tessaro (illustratore, pittore, cantastorie) si conferma ancora una volta un grande artista.
